Under the conditions to the licensees of 1888-4 (see p.35) a fee of $2,25 incharged an wvery ball of prepared opium, whether for sake in the Colony or for export to California & Australia: hence from found it cheaper to boil at Pinang, & another large from (then Opium Farmersat Macas) to boil at Macas, and the latter has recently found 8/4 of exporting direct from the Portugues
